Some of the most common questions associated with EdChoice and LCA are answered below.
Who is eligible to apply for an EdChoice Scholarship?
All families who live outside the city of Cleveland with children registered in LCA's K-8 program are eligible to apply. The final scholarship amount will be determined by a family's household size and income, as well as other tuition assistance and discounts the family receives.
When are applications due?
In order to maximize the scholarship amount for which you are eligible, applications are due by Tuesday, September 5, the first day of the 2023-24 school year.
How does the EdChoice Scholarship affect my child's tuition at LCA?
The scholarship amount awarded will be applied as a payment on your family's tuition account. You will be responsible for paying any remaining tuition balance not covered by the scholarship unless your income is less than or equal to 200% of the Federal Poverty Level.
Until scholarships are awarded later this fall, we ask that you continue paying tuition according to the tuition payment plan you selected during the registration process. If your child's scholarship is awarded, any tuition paid for the 2023-24 school year will be applied to your balance not covered by the scholarship, or refunded to you no later than December 31, 2023.
The EdChoice Scholarship covers tuition only. The scholarship may not be applied to fees, supplies, or other school-related costs.
What if my family received tuition assistance for the 2023-24 school year?
LCA is required to report any tuition assistance you have received from LCA, the Diocese of Cleveland, or other sources to the Ohio Department of Education if a scholarship is awarded. Depending on your family's LCA tuition tier, the amount of the scholarship or previously granted tuition assistance may be adjusted accordingly so no credit balance remains on your tuition account.
Will my application be approved?
Though not guaranteed, applications are approved as long as the family completes all of the steps of application process in a timely manner and has their income verified.
My child currently receives an EdChoice Scholarship. Do I need to do anything?
No. If you submitted your renewal application, it has already been processed by LCA.
